How much? How long?

  • Total time: 25 minutes.
  • Makes 8 patties.

What you need

  • 1 cup (250 ml) rolled oats
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 cup (250 ml) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Monterey Jack)
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp (2 ml) dried granulated garlic
  • 2 tbsp (30 ml) soy sauce
  • 2 Large eggs
  • Vegetable oil for frying

What to do

  • In large bowl, stir together all ingredients.
  • Between your wet hands, form the mixture into 8 balls.
  • Heat oil in frying pan over medium high heat, enough to lightly coat the bottom.
  • Four at a time, put balls into hot frying pan; immediately press down each ball with wet spatula to flatten them into patties (they are fragile at this point so do not disturb them while they are cooking.)
  • Fry for 3 minutes on each side until crisp and brown.
