Tasty and
satisfying alternative to hamburgers. Eat hot or cold with buns
and all your favorite hamburger fixings. Save a few for tomorrow's
brownbag lunch. When you have a hamburger party for friends (meat
version is also available in the book), make some of these burgers
for vegetarian friends and everyone can share the fixings and
buns. This recipe is on page 72 in College

Bon Appetit!
How
much? How long?
- Total
time: 25 minutes.
- Makes 8
patties.
What
you need
- 1 cup (250
ml) rolled oats
- 1 medium
onion, chopped
- 1 cup (250
ml) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Monterey Jack)
- 1/4 cup
(60 ml) sesame seeds
- 1/2 tsp
(2 ml) dried granulated garlic
- 2 tbsp
(30 ml) soy sauce
- 2 Large
eggs
- Vegetable
oil for frying
What
to do
- In large
bowl, stir together
all ingredients.
- Between
your wet hands, form the mixture into 8 balls.
- Heat oil
in frying pan over medium high heat, enough to lightly coat
the bottom.
- Four at
a time, put balls into hot frying pan; immediately press down
each ball with wet spatula to flatten them into patties (they
are fragile at this point so do not disturb them while they
are cooking.)
- Fry
for 3 minutes on each side until crisp and brown.
